Curtis Ray Ward, Sr. “Curt”, 78, of The Dalles, Ore., died Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 11:14 a.m. at Portland Adventist Hospital.
Curt is survived by his son, Curtis Ray Ward, Jr. “Ray” and his wife Devinn; two grandchildren, Tyson age 2 and Alexis age 5; three brothers, Jerry Ward and his wife Pat, Leon Ward and his wife Carol and Larry Ward and his wife Linda; nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
Curt was born on January 26, 1937 in Salem, Ark. He grew up in California and Arizona, the oldest of three sons of Cletus Curtis Ward and Letha May (Barnett) Ward. He was an Army Veteran who served honorably in Vietnam. He came to Oregon in 1978 and knew that he had found home. He worked at the Martin-Marietta Aluminum Plant and when it closed he began working at Wahtonka High School until he retired.
Curt loved life. He loved his family, his friends, and his country. He enjoyed gardening and dancing. This guy loved to dance; just writing about it here has me smiling. He was so fun, always happy and smiling and he was loved, so loved, by many.
Curt’s service was held at I.O.O.F Three Mile Cemetery, The Dalles, Oregon on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 2 p.m.
The family is deeply grateful for the love, prayers and support we have received from so many during this time.
