Renee McLean died on Thursday, December 18, 2014.
Renee was an incredibly talented drapery and home furnishing creator, skills which she learned from her mother. She had a very successful business here in The Dalles called Creative Windows, where many of you may have ordered drapes, comforters, or some other beautiful piece. She was also the creator of many pieces for Portland’s Street of Dreams homes. This was all before her world turned upside down and she went through some very terrible life events.
She became my friend. I was able to offer her a space for her to continue her craft and people were glad to hear that she was back in business. She helped me much more than I helped her. She would goad me to finish personal projects that I had pushed aside. She would berate me not to make the same mistakes she had made with her loved ones. It was irritating but it was all from her heart.
In the last month before her death, her life took a nice upswing. She had several projects which gave her some income that made her feel really good about herself. She even picked out a puppy which she was to pick up on Christmas. I was so happy for her. Then she died at home, absolutely unexpectedly.
I will miss seeing her across from me, sharing stories as we sew. I want people to know that she was a person that I was proud to call friend. Gifts in her memory may be made to Home At Last since she loved dogs or to The Dalles Public Library, she was an avid reader.
From, Luise Langheinrich and friends at Lines of Designs.
