Janiece (Jay) M. Frickey, passed away December 25, 2014 at Mid-Columbia Hospital in The Dalles, Oregon.
Jay was born November 09, 1933 and was 81 years old. She was born in Elwood Nebraska to Homer and Clara Gainsforth; both parents preceded her in death.
She graduated from Lexington High School 1951. On December 06, 1952, Jay married William Frickey at Elwood, Nebraska.
Over the years, Jay and her family lived in Lexington, NE, Portland, OR, Hoodsport, WA, Rufus, OR, Bridgeport, WA, and The Dalles, OR.
While still in high school, Jay started working as a clerk with the Lexington State Bank. She subsequently worked for U.S. National Bank in Portland, OR, and worked for the United States Army Corps of Engineers at the Rufus, OR, Construction Office during construction of John Day Dam. When the family moved to Bridgeport, Washington, she worked at Grand Coulee Dam. Upon moving back to Oregon, she worked for a Wasco County Judge and finished her career as the Administrative Assistant at the Center for Living. After retirement Jay worked part-time at Klindt’s Book store, also an avid reader and member of local book club.
Jay was a past member of Soroptimist Club, Wasco Co. Democratic Party, N. Wasco County Park and Recreation Budget Committee. She was a candidate for Wasco County Clerk’s office (Democrat Party), and served on the City of The Dalles Civil Service Board.
Jay was a homemaker and enjoyed being with family. She enjoyed traveling to Ireland, Australia and many trips around the USA with the “Klindts” travel group, and she enjoyed yoga at the Senior Center.
Jay and Bill enjoyed hosting and camping at Upper 8-Mile campground for many years. Jay was also a breast Cancer survivor for 4+ years.
Jay is survived by her husband, Bill, of The Dalles, OR, and sons-Richard and Roger of Dufur, OR, and Robb of The Dalles, OR.

A celebration of life is scheduled for February 7, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at The Dalles Civic Auditorium, located at 323 4th St., The Dalles, OR.
