Frank William Johnson, 93, a former resident of The Dalles, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015, while receiving hospice care in Antioch, Calif. He was born December 21, 1921, in The Dalles to Ernest and Mary Elizabeth (Hockman) Johnson. He grew up in The Dalles, graduating from The Dalles High School in 1940. He worked for City of The Dalles in the Water Department, leaving in 1960. In 1983, he retired from Contra Costa County Water District, Concord, Calif. Frank married Betty Jean Spickerman of The Dalles in 1942. They recently celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary. She survives him. Also surviving him are his sons and their wives, Gary and Carol Johnson of Walnut Creek, Calif., Robert and Becky Johnson of Tracy, Calif., and David and Christine Johnson of Antioch, Calif.. He leaves six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His brother Melvin and wife Shirley Johnson of Goldendale, Wash., also survive him, as do his sister's in law Mary Simon of Milwaukie, Ore., Nathalie Call of The Dalles, Ore., and Bernice O'dell of Marquette, Mich. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Doris Koerner. Interment services will be held at a later date in The Dalles.
