Bobby Joe was born on August 29, 1937, in Jewell, Kan. He moved with his family to Oregon in 1949, before finally settling in Salem, Ore.
Bobby Joe served a stint in the Air Force, then spent many years truck driving and working road construction. He moved his family to Rufus, Ore., in 1969. He owned the Rufus Hancock Gas Station for a short time, then worked at the Martin-Marietta Aluminum Plant for 13 years.
When the plant closed, Bobby Joe and his wife then moved to Umatilla, Ore., to be with their son. Bobby Joe drove truck and worked for Taggares (Boardman, Ore.) for several years before working for Wal-Mart in floor maintenance, where he retired.
Bobby Joe is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gail, and son Steven, both of Umatilla. No services or memorials are planned at this time.
His cremated remains will be inurned in the family crypt at Belcrest Memorial Gardens in Salem, Ore., at a later date.
