Elizabeth "Betty" Gordon, a longtime resident of The Dalles passed away June 12th at the age of 82 surrounded by her family.
Betty was born Elizabeth Ann Wells on December 27th, 1932 in Cambridge, Vermont. She attended high school there where she was to meet and marry her childhood sweetheart, Alan Gordon. They moved to Coos Bay, Oregon in 1952, ultimately settling in The Dalles in 1964. In 1953 they had their first child, daughter Sheila, followed by their son Steve in 1954 and Alan Jr. in 1958.
Betty spent her time raising their children and for a number of years worked as an assistant in the office of Dr. Schlichting. She would later go to work for Cousin's Restaurant where she was among one of the first hostesses when they opened their doors.
In her free time, Betty loved to out-fish her husband and played a mean game of golf. She and Alan also traveled extensively in their motorhome. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing puzzles. Betty was an excellent cook and baker, much to the appreciation and enjoyment of her family and friends! She also enjoyed watching golf and following her favorite NBA team, The Portland Trailblazers.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Stella Wells, both of Jeffersonville, Vermont and a brother Charles "Junior" also of Vermont.
She is survived by Alan, her husband and best friend of 63 years, her daughter Sheila Dellavedova, her husband Jim and their daughter Ashley all of Portland, Oregon, sons Steve and Alan Jr. and his wife Ruth of The Dalles. She is also survived by a brother James Wells of Florida.
No services will be held upon her request.
