Keith Leroy Brown, 99, of The Dalles, died May 9, 2015, at his home. He was born January 3, 1916 to Alva (Roy) and Mabel Brown in Centerville. His grandfather, Albert J. Brown, was founder of Centerville, coming to the valley in 1887. The family moved ot Klickitat in 1923, being the first family to live on the old Skookum ranch. They later moved to Hood River during the Depression and on to Goldendale.
At a young age he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He worked in several sawmills in Washington, Oregon, and California. He retired as a millwright from Weyerhaeuser, in Coos Bay, Ore. Along with his mill jobs he pioneered many churches in Oregon in the early 50’s.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nellie (Whitson) Brown, daughter Jane, and grandson Monte Bissett. Also brother Orris, and sisters Geneva, Vina Mae, and Vena Mae.
He is survived by son Dale (Kay) and daughter Jan Maxwell. His sisters Edythe and Rita. Twelve grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Also many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on June 20, 2015 at 1 pm at the Hoodview Church of God, 1530 Mt. Hood Ave., Woodburn, Oregon.
