On November 17, 2015, our family lost an amazingly loving, frustrating, stubborn man. Daniel J. Mariman passed away peacefully at Mid-Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles after a long struggle with heart and lung problems.
Dan was born October 3, 1934 in Portland, Ore., to George and Aleta Mariman, the youngest of three children. After moving several times, the family settled in Estacada, Ore., where Dan met the girl that he would eventually marry, Beverly Kitching.
Dan and Bev were married November 5, 1953 and welcomed their first daughter Robin in September of 1954. Another daughter, Keri, followed in July of 1960. After the birth of their daughter Keri, they moved to Seiad Valley, Calif., where Dan and Bev owned and operated logging trucks and lumber trucks for a number of years.
Dan had always been a master at “fixing” things and after selling the trucking business, went on to become a certified diesel mechanic. He worked at this profession until his retirement and even in his retirement, continued to work on the trucks that he loved.
Dan is survived by his wife Bev of Rufus, Ore., his daughter Robin of The Dalles, seven grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, his brother Jamie of Idaho and his sister Jane of Idaho. His is predeceased by his parents, sister Dolores and two daughters.
Per his request, there will be no services. Interment will be at a later date at the family cemetery, Philip E. Linn Pioneer Cemetery, in Estacada, Ore. Remain 10 foot tall and bullet proof Danny, Dad and Grandpa Dan!
