After a short, but brave fight, Sheryl lost her battle with pancreatic cancer. Sheryl was born in Salem, Ore., the 4th of seven children to Stanly J and Florence E Forrest, formerly of The Dalles. Sheryl lived her entire life in Oregon but traveled throughout the world. She graduated from North Salem High School in 1964, and University of Oregon with B.A. in 1968, and later with Master’s degree in Special Education. Sheryl taught school before working for Human Services for the State of Oregon for 30 years.
Sheryl was active in many groups and organizations including disabled athletes, antique car clubs, Search and Rescue, Friends of local libraries andChamber of Commerce, AARP Driver Safety program, Red Hat societies, Jefferson Mint festival, local Lions Club, and riding her motorcycle for the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Sheryl loved to entertain and had a passion for making others happy, even if only with her infectious smile. She was an avid animal lover and rescued many cats that became life-long members of her household.
Sheryl is survived by her siblings, Sandra J Fritz, The Dalles, Stanley W Forrest, Lyons, and Scott Forrest, Keizer, two nephews and three nieces plus numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Susan J Forrest; Brother-inlaw, Dr. Mike Fritz, and two infant brothers.
Sheryl requested remembrances be made to Nature Conservancy or local Humane Society or hospice of choice.
