Johanna "Jo" Spencer, 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on September 27, 2015 at the Columbia Basin Care Center in The Dalles, Ore.
Jo was born on June 5, 1946 in The Dalles, Ore., to Charles T. and Zora (Vaughn) Roseland. She attended schools in The Dalles and Union, Ore., graduating from Union High School in 1966. She worked for many years as a meter maid and dispatcher for the Wasco County Sheriff's office. She also worked at The Dalles Chronicle, and then Crew Shuttle Service before retiring in 2003.
Jo loved to crochet and was extremely talented, and she was famous for her love of collecting yarn. She collected Native American memorabilia and loved to play solitaire and watch old London cop movies.
Jo is survived by her four children: Joey (Spencer) Lacock and her husband Darren; Anthony Spencer, Scott Lacock, and Lauren (Spencer) Heaton; eleven grandchildren: Kanysah, Sierra, David, Dieryon, Marissah, Clayton, Nathan, Gavyn, Mathew, Tyler, and Andrew; one great-grandchild, Kaiden; sister Shawn Fredericks; brothers Dean Roseland and Larry Watts; longtime best friend Nancy Morinville and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Sharon, brother Tony and her companion, Gizmo.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in The Dalles on October 7th at 4 p.m. Cremation was held at Spencer, Libby and Powell.
