Jim Patton, age 38, passed away in Molalla, Ore., on September 11, 2015 amongst loving relatives. Jim was born in Salem, Ore., to Dan and Janice Patton. He graduated from The Dalles High School in 1995 and attended Lynn Benton Community College, as well as North Puget Sound Community College. One of his greatest passions was the piano. He loved to memorize and play classical pieces; his favorite being Chopin Polonaises. He married Melissa Wood in 2000 and they resided in the Seattle, Wash., area. They had one son, Isaac Patton, and were divorced in 2009. While in Seattle, Jim worked for several health insurance brokerage firms, where he excelled in sales. He was most proud of being a Vice President for ClearPoint Financial. For the last four years, Jim has been the American Director of Admissions for Cancun Ibogaine Clinic, which is located in Cancun, Mexico. Jim is remembered warmly by the staff and clients of the clinic for his empathy, patience, and understanding in working with those who fought chemical addictions.
Jim cared deeply for the plight of the homeless and went out of his way to get to know by name those in the Belmont Street area of Portland, where he lived. He frequently provided meals and monetary support for those in need. Jim is survived by his son, Isaac Patton, Seattle, Wash., sister, Elizabeth Patton Waters, her husband, Dr. Chris Waters, and their children, Ethan and Alethia, Boise, Idaho, and parents, Dan and Janice Patton, Ellensburg, Wash.
There will be a memorial service at Molalla Christian Church in Molalla, Ore., on October 10, 2015 at 1 p.m. Memorial gifts can be made to Union Gospel Mission, 3 NW 3rd Ave., Portland, OR, 97209.
