Larry Brown passed away on October 3, 2015 from complications of cancer. He was born in The Dalles, Ore., on March 11, 1938, to Wayne Brown and Alice (Graezyk) Brown. Larry was educated all of his years in The Dalles. He decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and his first job was washing dishes, so his father taught him to cook at an early age. He cooked at the Recreation café in The Dalles, but most of his years were at Johnny’s Café. There he worked for John Wantulok and Alvin Clark.
On January 27, 1968 Larry married the love of his life, Irene Medlack, in The Dalles, Ore.
Larry is survived by two step-daughters: Jill Knight, The Dalles, Ore.; Gerrie Lynn Hall, Springfield, Ore.; and one daughter: Sonya Hancock, Goldendale, Wash.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Kathy Bell (E.J.), Medical Lake, Wash.
Larry was preceded in death by both parents, three brothers: P.F.C. Dennis Brown, Lloyd Brown, Dell Brown, grandson Jason Dahl, and many wonderful friends.
There will be a celebration of Larry’s life and potluck at 1002 E Lambert St., The Dalles, on October 25, 2015 at 2 p.m.
