Linda Cummings

Linda Cummings

December 21, 1956 - October 14, 2015

On October 14, 2015 we lost our beloved wife, mother, daughter and grandmother. Linda Cummings lost her battle with lung cancer; she passed away at home surrounded by many family and friends.

Linda was born on December 21st 1956, in The Dalles, Ore., to Dale and Barbara Elliott. Linda was raised in The Dalles, Ore., and graduated in 1975 from The Dalles High School. In 1979 she graduated from Western Oregon College, and did a practicum with the Wasco County Juvenile Department.

She began working in Malheur County in 1979 in the Juvenile Department. In 2004, she became the director of the Juvenile department. Linda worked for Malheur County for 36 years. Linda had an easy non-judgmental nature, which shows in the large number of people that are devastated by her passing. A number of former juvenile kids have been reaching out to say what a difference Linda has made in their lives.

Linda married Bill Cummings on February 28, 1981. To their marriage they added two wonderful children Joe Cummings and Alicia (Cummings) Kiser to join with Tony Cummings and Toby Cummings.

Linda is preceded in death by her father Dale Elliott and mother-in-law Geraldine Cummings.

She is survived by her husband Bill Cummings, her mother Barbara (George) Clark, son Joseph (Jennifer) Cummings, daughter Alicia (Matt) Kiser, grandson Kannon, Tony (Stephanie), grandsons Dayce, Lane, and Trace, Toby (Dena) and great-grandchildren Colt, Lainey, Rye, and Caul, father-in-law Bill Cummings Sr (The Big Nasty). Her brothers Randy (Kathy) Elliott, Rick (Mo) Elliott, Mike Elliott and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life and Memorial was held on Saturday October 17, 2015 at Four Rivers Cultural Center.

In lieu of flowers please donate in her name to the Boys and Girls Club which was her passion, or to MSTI in Fruitland, Wash.

The family would like to thank Heart and Home Hospice and the Angels at MSTI in Fruitland for all their support and care for Linda.
