Jeannine K. Schackman, 68, of Maupin, formerly of Lebanon, died Tuesday morning in Tangent after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s related multiple symptom atrophy shy dragger syndrome.
Jeannine was born September 23, 1947 in Wendell, Idaho the daughter of Darrell and Wilma (Bowman) Jones. She moved to Lebanon as a child and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1965. Jeannine married Carl Anthony “Tony” Schackman on August 22, 1966. They resided in Mt. Vernon, Ore., prior to settling Maupin, Ore., in 1968, where they have resided since and Jeannine worked as a sales associate for Avon for 30 years.
Jeannine loved camping in the Oregon high desert, gardening, cooking, canning, flower arranging, going to casinos, doing arts and crafts. She also enjoyed hunting for deer, elk, antelope and wild mushrooms.
She is survived by her husband Tony Schackman, son Kyle Schackman both of Maupin, mother Wilma Jones of Lebanon, brother Bruce Jones and his wife Barbara of Springfield, sisters Rhonda Jones of Lebanon and Karen Keating of Albany. Her father preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, October 30, at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. Plans for a memorial service in Maupin will be announced later.
