Glenn Earl Lewis, 85, passed away on April 7, 2016, in The Dalles, Ore. Glenn was born on May 16, 1930, in The Dalles, to his parents: Jesse and Ruth (Hart) Lewis. He attended Benson High School in Portland, and graduated in 1948.

Immediately following his graduation from Benson, Glenn enlisted in the United States Navy. He served as the Ship Firefighter in Pearl Harbor during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1952.

On June 8, 1952, Glenn married the love of his life, Marlos Mae Belcher. They were married until his passing. Together, they had one daughter, Michele.

In 1974, Glenn and Marlos moved from the Gresham area and purchased the Pine Grove Mercantile. Glenn would report the weather to Channel 8 News from his store daily. In 1976, he began his career with ODOT. He held a variety of positions, including Supervisor. In 1992, he retired from ODOT.

Glenn was a member of the American Legion and also a past member of the Odd Fellows. For several years he belonged to Cascade Wildlife Association, were he raised rare and exotic birds. He enjoyed the beauty of the great outdoors, and he practiced wildlife photography. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, and weather forecasting. He would listen to his scanner every day, and he kept accurate journals of the weather for several years.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Marlos; his daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Jeff Parman; his grandchildren, Crystal, Zack, Jesse, and J.Lee; and his 2 great grandchildren, Easton and Marshall. He will be missed.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 13, from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 16, at 1:00 p.m. at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham. He will be laid to rest at Willamette National Cemetery.
