Zada June Rolen, born to Grover and Maud Hopkins in Jefferson Island, Mont., grew up in farm country and spent time in Yellowstone National Park as her father was a ranger there. She married Robert D. Rolen, Jr., on her birthday in 1949 and they had 65 years together, most of which they resided here in The Dalles, Ore.
Zada passed away peacefully at her home amongst her family on April 19, 2016. She is remembered for nurturing family, friends and loving her Lord. She was a member of Life in Christ Center and an avid gardener, florist and seamstress. She worked at Columbia State Park Hospital until it closed as an Aide Trainer.
She is survived by her husband “Bob” Rolen; son Robert Rolen, III and wife Margaret of Hermiston, Ore.; Susan R. Pincock and husband Jack of The Dalles, and Cindy Gardipee and husband David Gardipee of The Dalles. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held at Life in Christ Center, 3095 Cherry Heights Rd. at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 23. Viewing will be 2 - 5 p.m., Friday, at Spencer Libby and Powell Funeral Home. Graveside service at the I.O.O.F. Threemile Cemetery.
