Shirley Ailen Wasson Walsborn, 83, passed away on April 19, 2016, surrounded by her family at her home in the Dalles, Ore. She was the eldest child of Thomas W. and Mary E. (Oades) Wasson. She is survived by her son, Herb Lawrence (close friend-Loretta), daughter Pamela Walsborn, sister Marsha (Ron) Meier of Gresham, brother Thomas (DiAnne) Wasson of The Dalles, stepson Warren Walsborn, stepdaughter Linda Walsborn Fernau and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Herbert Lawrence in 1956 and by her second husband of 35 years, Howard K. Walsborn in 1994. Shirley was born in The Dalles, lived her entire life in The Dalles and was a graduate of The Dalles High School. She was an avid golfer, a Master Gardener with a green thumb and a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, ceramics, sewing, trips to the beach, playing Bridge with her friends and at one time was the manager at Neva's Hallmark. A devoted mother, daughter, wife and sister, Shirley's home was also a haven to numerous cats and dogs over the years. She loved them all, was loved in return and will be forever missed.
Services are planned for Saturday, April 30, 2016, at 3 p.m. Spencer, Libby & Powell in The Dalles. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made in her name to Providence Hospice or Home at Last Animal Shelter.
