George Joseph May was born in Great Falls, Montana, to Joseph Ridge May and Bertha Marie (Gratton) May. He was the second of eight children, and graduated from Sandy High School in 1946. George worked as a truck mechanic until he joined the Army on April 4, 1951.
George married Patricia Maude Thornton in September of 1952. After leaving the Army as a Corporal in April of 1953, George worked as the Transportation Supt. for United Grocers for nearly 28 years until he retired. George was a member of The Eagles Lodge and enjoyed time at Mid-Columbia Senior Center. George is survived by; Daughter Shelley May Brewer of Welches, Ore.; grandchildren; Dustin May of Battleground Wash., Brandy May of Portland, Ore., siblings; Jim May of Damascus, Ore., Joan Spangler of St Petersburg, Fla.; Robert May of Estacada, Ore., Ray May of Litchfield, Ariz.; and Patty Reed of Hubbard, Ore.. Services are planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Spencer Libby & Powell Funeral Home. Donations may be given in George’s name to Heart of Hospice or Meals on Wheels. Arrangements in care of Spencer Libby & Powell Funeral Home.
