Gerard "Jerry" Neil Harris passed away in his sleep at his home in The Dalles, Ore., on Dec. 7, 2016, at the age of 77. He was born in Shiprock, N.M., on Oct. 24, 1939, to Lloyd Smith Harris and Ella "Evelyn" (Thomas) Harris. He eventually moved to California, where he met his wife of 55 years, Joyce Marie Edwards. They moved to Oregon with their four children, ultimately settling in The Dalles.
Jerry took pride in his work and taking care of his family. He never hesitated to help someone in need, never expecting anything in return.
He was met, when he left this earth, by his wife and soulmate, Joyce; his parents, Lloyd Harris and Evelyn Noisom; his sister, Jeannine Noisom; his brother Leo Kenneth Harris; and his grandaughter Lacy Dawn Harris.
He is loved and remembered by his children; Wesley Allen and Val (Collins) Harris, Dwayne Thomas Harris, William Eugene Harris, Danielle (Harris) and Jason Borgus; his granddaughters,Tanya Lynn Harris, Cheyenne Elizabeth Harris, Morgan Faye Borgus, Aurora Sage Borgus, Briana Jade Borgus; and his great-granddaughter Adriana Eve Sanders; his brothers and sisters, Lloyda and Lowell Wilkins, Shirley King, Muriel Sluyter, Dale and Janene Harris, Berne Harris, Lynn and Kathleen Crawford; as well as many nieces, nephews and their children.
He was interred at Yoncalla Masonic Cemetery on Dec. 14, 2016, and will be loved and missed dearly.
