Steven Mitchell Carpenter, 61, died peacefully Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. at Providence Medical Center in Portland, Ore.
Steve was born on April 8, 1955 in Miles City, Montana. He graduated from The Dalles High School in 1973, received a Bachelor of Arts in French from Lewis and Clark College in 1977, and later a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Lewis and Clark School of Law.
Throughout his professional career, Steve made many friends and enjoyed working with so many wonderful colleagues; as a Public Information Officer with the Army Corp of Engineers, to his position with the Oregon State Bar Professional Liability Fund, and all stops in between.
Steve was a former member of the Portland Gay Men's Chorus, and was an avid supporter of all the arts. Steve’s passions were cooking fine foods, traveling (especially to his beloved France), and his Dobermans.
Steve is survived by his parents, Don and Juanita Carpenter; his brother, Mike and Lynn Carpenter; his nephews, Kyle and Jennifer, and their son Conley Carpenter, and Cory and Karyn Carpenter; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
A Celebration of Steven’s Life will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 1 p.m., in the Agnes Flanagan Chapel, on the Lewis and Clark College campus.
