Frequent contributor to The Dalles Chronicle Letter to the Editor, Esther J. Esson was a firm believer in the First Amendment and often exercised her right to freedom of speech and religion. Esther graduated from The Dalles High School in 1961. She joined the Women's Army Corps. (WAC) and served during the Vietnam War. A college graduate possessing a degree in Gerontology, she worked with numerous elders. She was an extremely creative person and an accomplished writer.
Volunteering her time and resources, Esther contributed to The Dalles community which she loved so much.
Esther is predeceased by her father William (Bill) Esson and her mother Wanda Esson. She is survived by her sister in Hasty, Colo., brother in The Dalles, Wanda Schreier (daughter), Dale Pearce (son) and Laura Rankin (daughter). Also, she was a loving Granny to seven grandchildren.
Graveside service to be held Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Oddfellows (IOOF) Cemetery 1100 West 18th Street, The Dalles.
