Karen Schuhart, 64, a resident of The Dalles, Ore., and former resident of Portland, Ore., passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on March 4, 2016
Karen was born October 11, 1951 in Portland, Ore., the third of five children to Richard and Evelyn (Sylvia) Thurman. She was raised and educated in Portland graduating from Reynolds High School.
In 1974, she and Gary Schuhart were married in Portland, Ore. They both grew up in the Portland area and spent most of their lives there.
Karen moved to The Dalles recently from the Portland area and really enjoyed the friendly people and the quiet community of The Dalles.
She is survived by her husband Gary of The Dalles; four brothers, Rich and his wife Susie of The Dalles; Steve and his wife Michelle of Athol, Idaho; Bob and his wife Becky of Waldport, Ore., and Paul of Stansbury Park, Utah. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Karen’s favorite thing to do was spend time at the coast. She and her husband would vacation at Lincoln City as often as possible, walking on the beach and watching the sunsets.
A private gathering will be held at the residence of her brother Rich in The Dalles on March 12, 2016.
