Lucy Elma Davenport, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2016. She was born on January 14, 1924 in Smithfield, Utah. She moved to The Dalles, Ore., as a teenager where she attended The Dalles High School and graduated in 1941.
She married her high school sweetheart, George Lewis Davenport in December 1944 in Brownwood, Texas while he was serving in the United States Army Air Corp. Lucy and George had three sons, John Lewis Davenport, Edward Joseph Davenport and Charles Robert Davenport.
She is survived by her brother, Cal Dawson (Wanda) of Yakima, Wash., her son, Edward Davenport (Jane) of Gainesville, Ga., her seven grandchildren, Jill, Kimberly, Christopher, Katherine, Cole, James, and Rianne along with her ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Lewis Davenport in 2011, sons, John Lewis Davenport in 1984 from an airplane accident and Charles Robert Davenport in 2004 from complications of multiple sclerosis.
A viewing was held on Wednesday, March 23 at 11 a.m. at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home, 1100 Kelly Ave in The Dalles, OR 97058. A Graveside service was immediately following at Odd Fellows Mausoleum in The Dalles, Ore.
