Barbara Lynne Creighton Pink, of The Dalles, Ore., passed away at her home in The Springs at Mill Creek, in the early morning of Tuesday, October 18, 2016. She was born in The Dalles on October 1, 1927 and recently celebrated her 89th birthday.
Barbara was a dedicated wife, mother and partner, with David Pink, her late husband, then Casey Pink, her son, in the Pink Orchard located in The Dalles, Ore. She served as the bookkeeper, among many other duties on the busy cherry orchard. When first married, the couple leased a farm in Rufus, Ore., where they farmed wheat. Barbara and David then purchased a cherry orchard and moved to the Orchard Road property that is still in the family. Before meeting David, Barbara studied at Reed College in Portland, Ore. Throughout her life, she was an avid reader and a dedicated genealogist, tracking the roots of her and her husband’s families back to Colonial America and pre-revolution Ireland. These interests led Barbara to become a founding member of the Celilo Chapter of the Daughters of The American Revolution (DAR). She was also an avid painter, working in water color, oil and acrylic.
