Betty Jean LaDouceur, age 84, passed away November 5, 2016 at her home in The Dalles, surrounded by loved ones.
Betty was born to Gene and Lois (Spoor) Ihrstrom on October 30, 1932 in Klamath Falls, Ore. She married Philip LaDouceur in 1951 and they raised three sons; Gene, Ron and Tim, moving to Hood River in 1962.
She worked many years at Safeway in Hood River and The Dalles as a checker and a trainer. She met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Byers, in the mid-1980s and they enjoyed life together until Bob’s passing in 2009. Betty was greatly loved by her friends and family and in turn adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Betty is survived by sons Gene (Chris) and Tim (Carolyn) of The Dalles, grandchildren Jacqueline Noparstak (Andrea) of Stuttgart, Germany, Ryan LaDouceur (Monica) of Oregon City, Katie Kelley (Adam) of The Dalles, David LaDouceur (Sheree) of Dallesport, Michael LaDouceur of Portland and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Elmer DeWitt, sister Florence Sharp, brother Elmer (Buzzy) DeWitt, son Ron LaDouceur and granddaughter Tennille LaDouceur Dunn.
At Betty’s request, no memorial service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Hospice of The Gorge.
