Bob passed away September 24, 2016, at home in his wife's arms, family and friends by his side, after a short battle with cancer.
Bob was born in Yakima, Wash., to Dave and Mary Fairbanks. They moved to The Dalles, Ore., when he was a young boy, where he grew up. After graduating from The Dalles High School, he joined the Navy.
Bob and his family moved to Bend in 1968 where he owned and operated the Chevron Service Station until 1980. He then opened Advanced Windshield Repair, which he still owned and was operating at the onset of his illness.
He leaves his best friend, his soul mate, the love of his life, his wife Joan. Also his son, Robin; daughters, Bonnie (husband Chris) and Bette; sister, Louise Wooderson, brother, Russ Fairbanks; as well as grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Celebration of life will be on Oct. 7, 2016, at the Elks Lodge in Bend, Ore., 12 noon to 3 p.m. Please join our family in sharing memories and life stories. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at US Bank in memory of Robert Fairbanks.
