Daniel L. Green, age 72, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nev., as a result of complications from cancer.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, and his former wife Mary Green.
Dan was born in Atoka, Okla., a proud member of the Choctaw Indian Nation, on August 11, 1944. As a young man, he joined the Air Force in Hutchinson, Kan., where he met and married Vicki Jones, the mother of his four children. He served as a member of the Air Force for over 30 years, first in active duty and then as a reservist. After active service, he moved to The Dalles, Ore., where he began work for the Army Corps. of Engineers as a mechanic at The Dalles Dam until his retirement.
Dan spent most of his life in The Dalles where he raised his family. He was an active member of the Eagles Lodge the Moose Lodge, and the American Legion. He spent several years raising thoroughbred race horses, which remained a true passion throughout his life. After retiring from the Army Corp of Engineers, he worked as a security guard for Google, first in The Dalles, then transferring to Las Vegas, Nev.
While in Las Vegas, he continued to work in various security details until his death. He is survived by his wife, Joan, as well as his four children; sons Daniel Jr., Tom, and David, his daughter Jeana; grandchildren Kyle, Jacob, Jordan, Tommy, Madeline, Alexander, Dakota and Joseph, as well as many close friends and extended family members.
Dan enjoyed a love of music throughout his life, and especially enjoyed singing karaoke for his friends and family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral Services will be held October 15, 2016 at Spencer, Libby, and Powell in The Dalles at 2 p.m., followed by graveside services at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
