Tony Monner passed away September 20, 2016 at the age of 62. He was born May 17, 1954 at The Dalles General Hospital to Joseph and Lillian Monner. Tony grew up in Maupin and graduated from Wasco County Union High School in 1972, and after that worked at the Maupin sawmill. He lived many years in The Dalles and then moved to Fairview to live with his sister, Maureen.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sisters: Cindy Siler of Mead, Wash., and Maureen McAtee of Fairview, Ore., niece Sara Siler and nephew Brandon Siler of Spokane, Wash.
He was diagnosed with schizophrenia in his early 20’s and lived the rest of his life coping with the illness. Tony often expressed his appreciation for the support and friendship of the social workers and other people associated with the Mid-Columbia Center for Living in The Dalles. Their assistance was invaluable when he lived in The Dalles.
Tony enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends. He was always considerate and giving to his friends and family. Tony will be missed by his family, friends, and canine buddy, Abby.
