Edward McBride passed away at home on April 19, 2017, surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was born in Union, Ore., in 1933, the second child to James and Dolores McBride. Edward and his older brother Walter were raised by their great-grandfather Ulysses Haynes.
Edward was a five sport athlete at Union High School, where he earned the named “The Union Flash”. After graduating from High School Edward joined the Army where he was stationed over seas in Okinawa. After serving in the military he moved to The Dalles, Ore., working at Brady’s Market as the Produce Manager and later working construction until his retirement in 1995.
Edward loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending many of their athletic events. Edward was an accomplished pool player, thorough bred horse owner and trainer, a ham radio operator and an avid airplane pilot, participating in many regional fly-ins.
Edward is survived by his; wife, Rita, The Dalles, children; David McBride (Kathy), The Dalles, Mark McBride (Debbie), Portland, Michelle Royce, Greeley, Colo.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great grandchild on his way; and nephews Michael and Pat McBride.
Edward was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and brother Walter.
