Winifred (Winnie) Scheir, 92, a resident of The Dalles, Ore., passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017.
She was born on October 29, 1924, in Everett, Wash. She was raised in Battleground, Wash., and married Hollis Scheir on October 18, 1942. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2008.
In 1958, Winnie and her family
moved to The Dalles, where she has been a resident ever since. She worked for many years at the Diamond Fruit Company. After retirement, she and Hollis joined the Good Sam Club and enjoyed many camping trips in their motor home. She was a member of the First Christian Church of The Dalles. She enjoyed crafting and playing cards with her friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Lindsey and her husband Dan of Portland, Ore., Dorothy Roth and her husband Mike of The Dalles; grandchildren, Darla Mersal, Spencer Roth, Tracey Motoda; nieces and a nephew; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and Joyce Linsdey, wife of her grandson Bradley Linsdey, who lost his life on Sep-tember 9, 2006, in the line of duty serving his country in Afghanistan.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017, at 1 p.m., at First Christ Church with Pastor Mike Wilson officiating.
