Greta E. Dunsmore, 82, passed away in St. Ignatius, Mont., on Feb. 12, 2017. She was born August 24, 1934, in The Dalles, Ore., and she was raised by Norvil and Fay Cochran and Oren Turner.
Greta lived in several different locations around Washington state growing up. She never finished a college degree but took classes at the local community college in subjects that pertained to her work. Bookkeeping was her first job and what she enjoyed the most. Greta, being the amazing bookkeeper that she was, worked at many different companies over the course of her life, but a few companies stuck out in her mind; two companies she not only enjoyed but worked for the longest were Desert Star Electric in Kennewick, Wash., and Walkner’s Trucking in Seattle, Wash.
Greta was married twice, first to Delano C. Mathis of Port Angeles, Wash., and second to Earl Dunsmore of Seattle, Wash. Greta was a member of the Elks and American Legion. She loved helping with fundraisers.
Greta was preceded in death by her father, Norvil Cochran, and mother, Fay Turner; sister June and brother-in-law, Earl Wisner of Colville, Wash.; husbands, Earl Dunsmore and Delano C. Mathis; and son Richard C. Mathis.
Greta is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Fred) Matt; eight grandchildren and numerous great- grandchildren.
A rosary was held at 7 p.m. Wednesday Feb. 15, at Foster Funeral Home in St. Ignatius, Mont. Mass was held at 11 a.m. Thurday, Feb. 16, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Condolences may be left at www.fosterfhandcrematory.com
