Raymond Webster Doty, resident of The Dalles, Ore., for 56 years, died at the age of 94 on Dec. 31, 2016, at Revere Court of Portland, Ore., a memory care facility. Ray struggled with Alzheimer’s for over 10 years, but died of natural causes.
Ray was born in Hickory Ridge, Ark., on Feb. 26, 1922, to William Estlie Doty and Rosa Estell Petit. He was the oldest of two boys. Both his parents died by the time he was seven, at which time, he went to live with his grandparents. He completed the sixth grade before going into the Civilian Conservation Corps at the age of 13, and the United States Army at the age of 17. He retired from Burlington Northern Railroad.
Ray was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the Cherry Park Grange, and The Dalles Senior Center.
He was preceded in death by three wives; his brother; two step sons; and a daughter.
He is survived by five children, 11 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on Friday, Jan. 6, 2016, at 1 p.m., 3350 Columbia View Drive.
