Elizabeth was born Nov. 22, 1942, in Spokane, Wash., to Anne Leah Coats and Harry Herman Straughan. She went home to meet the Lord after a long battle with kidney failure. She fought hard but the Lord needed her home.
Betsy grew up in Condon Ore., where she graduated from Condon High School in 1961. She met her husband, Dennis Jackson, and spent the next 53 years walking the road God put before her. From Condon to Gresham to Sherman County she spent the majority of those years working and raising a family that she loved dearly. It was a tough road but, with God's help she always had a kind word or smile for everyone she met.
Even as the illness robbed her of her life she was more concerned about the ones she loved. Betsy was fond of saying "that sounds nice" no matter what the situation was. That was her life.
Betsy is survived by her husband, Dennis Jackson of Wasco; son, Mark and wife Tina Jackson Newberg, Ore.; son, Ray and wife Valentina Jackson, Kiev, Ukraine; son Tom and wife Dani Jackson, Irrigon, Ore.; daughter, Deana Jackson Ashley, Wasco Ore.
Her brother; James and wife Bobbi Straughan McMinnville, Ore., Algo her, Granddaughters; Kaitlin Jackson, Bend, Ore., Audrey Jackson, Newberg Ore. Aunt Nell Melzer, Moro and cousins throughout Oregon.
Betsy's loves were family, friends, church, penny slots and good laughter. She will be greatly missed. But she stood concrete on the fact we would be together again if we believed in Jesus Christ.
Donations may be made in Betsy's name to the Wasco Methodist Church, Wasco Potlatch or Wasco Meals on Wheels.
A memorial service will be held Feb. 25, 1 p.m. at the Wasco Methodist Church.
