Arlene O’Conner passed away June 9, 2017, at her home, where she wanted to be, so she could look out at her cows, the deer and turkeys in the field. Arlene loved having her family together for meals, picnics and walking around the farm discussing the animals and garden.
Arlene was born in Oregon City, Ore., on Jan. 28, 1923, to Phillip Ernest and Minerva Talitha (Roberts) Wetmore.
Her father died in 1926, leaving her mother with four small children. The family moved back to The Dalles, Ore. Minerva married John Henry Denslinger in November 1927 and he helped her raise the children. He was always called “Daddy John.”
Arlene attended school at Dutch Flat and The Dalles High School.
Arlene married Earl Cleo Baldwin Sept. 14, 1941, they had two sons, Scott Andrew and Steven Earl and Earl died Jan. 1, 1971.
She married Matthew James Swede O’Conner May 19, 1973 and Swede died July 26, 2010.
Arlene is survived by her sons, Scott (Nancy) Baldwin and Steven Baldwin; step-children, Barb (Doug) Bish and Lyle (Gena) O’Conner; brothers, John and Richard Denslinger; grandchildren, Michael, Jeffery, Jamie, James, Janelle and Jacob Baldwin, Paul (Kristi) Bish, Matthew, Ryan and Kaitlin O’Conner, Bethany (Kyle) Farmer, Justyn (Stephanie) O’Conner, Nicholas Parrish, Alex and Amanda Miller; great-grandchildren, Shane and Trent O’Hara, Matthew Logan, Josselyn, Jane and Jacy Baldwin, Evelyn Fraiser, Ellery and Caelum Bish, Kaydence O’Conner, Logan, Conner and Lylly Dee Arlene Baldwin.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, granddaughter Jenni O’Hara, sister Barbara Gilbert and brothers, Donald and Lowell Wetmore.
At her request, no service is planned. Arrangements are by Spencer, Libby and Powell funeral home.
