Lloyd LeSollen was born on July 25, 1932, the seventh of seven children born to Peter M. and Mary E. (Mescher) LeSollen.
Unfortunately, Lloyd’s father passed when he was just 2 years old. He grew up in Rainier, Ore., graduating from Rainier High School in 1950.
After high school, he worked different jobs, including the lumber industry. In 1954 he made his way to Enterprise, Ore., where he met Rosemary Surber. In November 1954, Lloyd and Rosemary married, making their home in Enterprise, Ore. In 1955 they welcomed their first child, Joseph. After his employment with Safeway in Baker City, Ore., Lloyd transferred to The Dalles, where he worked in the produce department. In 1965 they moved to Goldendale, Wash., where their second child, Nicole was born in 1966. They moved back to The Dalles in September 1966. Lloyd worked in produce for several different grocery stores, including Easthill Market, Albertsons, Hilltop Market, and Safeway. He served as a Cubscout master and also coached his son in Little League baseball. In 1969, they welcomed their third child, Holly, and in 1970 welcomed their fourth child, Tony. Lloyd spent the last 20 years of his career working as a custodian for District 12. He and Rosemary also owned LeSollen Cleaning, which provided janitorial services for many local businesses, including Ninth Street Thriftway, United Methodist Church, Dan Williams, CPA, Halton’s Tractors, and several others. After retiring in 1996 from the school, they continued LeSollen Cleaning, with Lloyd fully retiring in 2011. Lloyd enjoyed time with his family and working on his 1976 Chevy Scottsdale truck.
Lloyd joins son, Tony, who proceeded him in death on Jan. 12, 2017. He was also proceeded by his father and mother; brothers, Joseph and Louie; and sisters, Mary Louise, Judy, Marie, and Helen. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary, The Dalles; son, Joseph; The Dalles and daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Rick Cowart, The Dalles; and daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Scott May, Salem. His surviving grandchildren are; Katerina Szarzecova, Calif.; Caitlin Cowart, The Dalles; Richie LeSollen, stationed Hawaii; Thomas Cowart, The Dalles; Zachary May, Salem; Kelsie Cowart, The Dalles; Tony Joshua (TJ) LeSollen, Calif.; Samantha May, Salem; and Danny LeSollen, Colo.
Gravesite services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 10, at Odd Fellow Cemetery on Cherry Heights, followed immediately by a memorial service at Gateway Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m.
