Our kindhearted and loving brother Lee died and went to join our Mom Oct. 30, 2017, at Mid-Columbia Medical Center surrounded by family and the wonderful ICU staff by his side.
He was born Aug. 4, 1954, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Mary Helen Sartain and Willie Loinell Pendergrass, third of nine children. He received his GED and took some college courses. He enjoyed doing construction/woodwork and crafting jewelry, etc. He loved playing his guitar, singing and dancing for friends, and was learning to play the harmonica. He wasn't blessed with much in life but was generous with what he had, he would give you his last nickel. This generosity was shown last week when he gave his guitar away to a total stranger as he thought he needed it more than himself. He had a gentle spirit and good heart.
He married, his first wife, Sondra Jean Mendes on July 25, 1972 in Clark County Wash., They had two sons, Tony Lee (1971) and Jamie Lee (1972) Pendergrass (Jamie was later adopted) in Eugene, Ore. His daughter LeAnna Pendergrass, was later born in Montana. He was preceded in death by his mom & dad, also youngest sister Deborah Kay Tackett Luster.
He is survived by his loving partner of 13 years Gayla Cain; sisters, Tish Sprenger & Linda Luckey; and brothers Mike Pendergrass; Eddie and Jim Tackett; Ritchie & Charlie Sharp. Plus, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He cherished his family and friends. His wish would be “Love your family unconditionally and be kind to those less fortunate.”
Celebration of His Life will be held next spring, date and time announced later. His ashes will be taken to Bethel Cemetery in Pelham, TN.
