Richard Andrew Cavagnaro passed away in his home in The Dalles, Ore., on Jan. 27, 2018. He was born Oct. 7, 1953, in Healdsburg, Calif., to Joseph Andrew and Joan (Hitchcock-Prather) Cavagnaro.
He was two and one-half when they moved to North Dakota. He attended school in Lignite, N.D., until his family moved to Culbertson, Mont., where he graduated from Culbertson High School in 1971.
From an early age, Rick had a passion for broadcasting. He attended the Career Academy of Broadcasting in Milwaukee, Wisc. His career began in Scobey, Mont., in 1972 and, for 44 years, it brought him from Montana to Oregon, Washington, Nevada, California and then back to Oregon where he settled in The Dalles.
Rick is survived by his daughter, Hope Cavagnaro of The Dalles; mother, Joan Hitchcock of Yelm, Wash.; sister Julie (Mike) Hepburn of Lacey, Wash.; numerous nieces, nephews and family members who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Cavagnaro in 2004, and his little brother Bill Cavagnaro in 2007.
Memorial services will be set at a later time.
