Laverne (Bud) P. Lindhorst, 86, passed away at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018.
He was born in The Dalles Hospital March 14, 1931, to Preston K. Lindhorst and Zelma M. Bourland.
He attended Dufur High School and was active in sports and a member of the “D” club.
He married Naomi Tibbets in November of 1950 and worked for Floyd Tibbets (father-in-law), ranching. Later, they settled in Dufur where he ranched for his grandmother. They had five children, Ruth, Ron, Don, Diane and Patti.
Bud married Judy Tibbets in November of 1979.
For the last 30-plus years of his life Bud worked in maintenance for both the Portage and Shilo Inn properties, located in The Dalles, Ore., an accomplishment he was very proud of.
Bud was a former member of the Masons, the Elks Lodge and the Eagles and was a former Dufur School Board Member.
Bud served in the National Guard, was a team roper, an avid golfer and a member of The Dalles Country Club. Bud loved to go camping and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bud is survived by his wife Judy (Finley-Tibbets); brothers, Robert (Yvonne), Don, Larry, and Dan; sisters, Vivian and Nancy; sister-in-law, Joyce Lindhorst; brother-in-law, Michael Peterson; children, Ruth Lindhorst Farrier (Cliff), Ron Lindhorst (Susan Lafond), Don Lindhorst (Livia Castrucci), Diane Lindhorst, and Patti Lindhorst (Ryland Greene); stepsons, Jim Tibbets (Linda), Ed Tibbets (Caitlyn) and Ben Tibbets (Andrea); grandchildren, twins-Luca and Luisa Lindhorst, Lacey Tibbets-Lindell, Tyler and Trever Tibbets, Tyson and Cassidy Tibbets, Melyn Tibbets-Voodre, Lori, Terrin and Kodee Tibbets; great-grandchildren, Liana and Lyla Lindell and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bud’s family is planning a celebration of life at a later date, in lieu of a funeral.
