Wilbur Eugene Allen passed away on Aug. 28, 2018, at his home in Dufur, Ore. He was 85 years old at the time of his passing.
Wilbur was born on Aug. 4, 1933, in Jamesport, Mo., to Everett and Hazel (Fitzpatrick) Allen. He moved to the Hood River Valley in 1948. On March 6, 1956, Wilber and Lois Christmann married and had three children.
He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, Cool Trucking and later retired from Hanel Lumber. Wilber always had a special connection with all of his employees and co-workers. He loved cars, working with wood, making bird houses, barn wood furniture and wheel barrows.
Wilber was preceded in death by his wife Lois (Christmann) Allen and his parents.
He is survived by his brother Larry; sons Mike (Robin), Mitch (Sharon); daughter Melinda McCorkle (Randy); grandchildren Britt, Kari, Jamy (Summer), Nicole Sloper (Kurt), Koby McCorkle (Crystal), Michele Smith (Billy); nine greatgrandchildren Sydney, Madison, Peyton, Jolene, Cason, McKenley, Auto, Morgan and Jocelyn.
A service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at Anderson’s Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations) 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Ore. 97031.
Arrangements were under the direction of Anderson's Tribute Center Celilo Chapel 204 E. 4th Street, The Dalles, Ore. 97058.
