Families First, a program of The Next Door, hosts its first Poolside Benefit Concert featuring nationally known Celtic singer-songwriter Kathryn Claire, joined by Irish flute player Hanz Araki. This summer event directly supports Families First home visitors and their vital role in helping local families and children. The concert is Saturday, Aug. 3, at 6 p.m., at the Ryan house, 508 W. 12th St. Tickets, $25, are available at Klindt’s Booksellers, Columbia River Music and The Next Door, 318 W. Second St., The Dalles. Families First envisions a supportive community with healthy, thriving children raised in strong, nurturing families, a community where all children and families are safe, healthy and valued. Last year, 57 families who needed parenting help were turned away due to a lack of funding. Supporting events like this year’s Poolside Benefit Concert provides an opportunity to strengthen local families and community. Contributed photo
