After a hardy pancake breakfast provided by Wasco’s ABC Huskies day care, Pastor Bob Reasoner and the children of the Wasco’s Methodist Church led spectators in singing a verse from each branch of the service, Marines, Army, Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard at the annual Memorial Day celebration in Wasco. After this opening tribute, spectators braved continuous rain to watch the parade, which was led by veterans, American flag and grand marshals Len and Danee Rankin. A classic car show, barbecue, children’s games, library used book sale and activities, raffle, junior hoops contestar Sugar Shack, pastry auction. The Railroad Depot was open and children enjoyed being the “engineer” for the O gauge model train and checking out the N gauge and HO gauge model trains. Ray and Jennifer Smith won the Arabian print donated by Bonnie Swart. Jake Grossmiller again served as announcer.
