PLAYERS from the 10U Cherry City Crush softball team display a second-place trophy from play at the Father’s Day Tournament in Newberg. The Crush won their first game Saturday, June 15 against the Thurston Fillies 15-4, but then lost their second tourney game to Sweet Home Huskies by a 7-5 margin. On Sunday morning, they punched a finals ticket by winning their semifinals matchup against the Toledo HotShotz, 11-2 and lost the championship game to the tough McMinnville Grizzlies, 12-8. They play next at the three-day state tournament in Albany June 28-30.
