TWO CHILDREN cozy up with colorful quilts courtesy of Quilting Club members, who arrived at the Wahtonka Head Start program to donate them Nov. 26. Jaidin Postema (middle), Azaelia Powers (right) and each of their classmates got to choose one of the 16 soft, child-sized quilts and matching pillows brought in by long-time quilter Thelma Sather (left), who said she’s been a member of the Quilting Club for over 20 years. The best part? At the end of the year, the kids get to take them home. The club meets regularly in the basement of the Mid-Columbia Senior Center in The Dalles and has made quilts for a variety of other local organizations, including giant-sized ones used to raise funds for the senior center every year.
