A tough day on the fire line can leave a firefighter pretty grimy and a community appreciation effort organized by Kim Nosenzo, left, helped fire crews in August working on the Government Flats Fire Complex get clean by collecting toiletries including toothpaste, mouthwash, shampoo, soap and other items. Donations were dropped off at Gateway Presbyterian Church and distributed across from incident command at Wahtonka School. Local residents donated the supplies or cash to buy them.
