Steve Wray limbers up his flyfishing skills on Fourth Street downtown The Dalles in preparation for a trip to the lower Deschutes to fish for steelhead as soon as the rain abates and the river clears. "They are just starting to come in," he noted. Only 15 minutes east on Interstate 84, the Deschutes is one of his favorite places to fish. Hiking a mile upstream, most fishermen and the highway are left behind. "I love it."
