JOHN SCHOPPERT HOLDS Open Source textbooks used at Columbia Gorge Community College, which cost students about $25 each and replace commercial textbooks priced at $185 each. The Gorge Open program, started in 2013, is helping teachers at the college adopt open source resources and has saved students over $35,000 in textbook costs in the past two years.
