The Riverside Gymnastics girls compulsory team started the spring campaign on a tear with an eye-opening 13 top-3 performances at the Multnomah Athletic Club Open held on Feb. 16-19 in Portland. Violet Young picked up first place all-around, Maddie Tierney secured top honors on the balance beam and Sammy Evans tacked on another first on the vault. Taking second place on the beam was Victoria Lee-Valkov and Ayla Carpenter earned a runner-up finish after a solid vault routine. The trio of Emma Wolf, Alecia Barragan and Evangeline Goldring each tallied third-place recognition in bars, beam and vault, respectively. The compulsory group wraps up their season at state in late April.
