Dufur drubs Weston-McEwen in five
By ALEX BOSWORTH
of The Chronicle
Dufur drubbed visiting Weston-McEwen Tuesday night by 13 runs, ending the game in the fifth inning, 19-6, at Dufur City Park.
“We hit the ball really well,” coach Hollie Darden said. “The difference in the game was that [pitcher] C.J. Forrest shut them down [for most of the game].”
Forrest also provided the Rangers with some offense, connecting on two home runs and a single to bat in a whopping eight RBIs.
Dufur spread the wealth though: Don Arthur had three RBIs, Mike Highfield had a triple and two singles, and Cody Frischman had a double.
Dufur had 16 hits; seven Rangers had at least one RBI.
Weston-McEwen’s Ryan Webb started on the mound and took the loss.
Dufur put the game away early, taking advantage of seven walks.
Dufur hosts league-leading Heppner in a doubleheader this Saturday (11 a.m., Dufur City Park). Heppner edged out Dufur earlier in the season by the score of 10-9, surviving an early 7-0 deficit.
“We’re going to have to hit and field if we want a chance,” Darden said. “They’re going to put the ball in [play].”
