I for one an happy Goodwill is coming, not only do they provide job training for people that have barriors to employment they help those that would otherwise be forgotten and they are going to bring in other retailers in the center that they are going to build 2 or 3 other buildings. As for the Albertsons building, that building is not perfectly sound even Albertson's wanted to demolish it and build a new one. It has lots of problems as it was originally built in 1967 and I used to do jobs in there and was told by the management that thie roof leaked and Goodwill is probably determined it would be more cost effective to build new. I like what the stores have in Portland. Goodwill was here in the 1950's before the other 2 and I think that everything will work out for the best. It will be nice to see something new on that corner. We need jobs here in this town.

I too am happy to see them coming to The Dalles, the old Albertson's building needs replaced. It will be nice to see all the job help they will give to all the unemplyed here in The Dalles and other business will be great. The other thrift stores will just have to keep their prices competitive and everyone will survive. The ultimate thing is that everyone is helping people and that is most important. Also, people forget that there used to be a Goodwill Store in The Dalles years ago downtown, I don't remember it but my mother does, That store was here before Salvation Army had a store here.
