Northern Wasco County Parks and Recreation District has a long list of January and February activities designed to take advantage of winter weather — and keep those indoor days occupied.

Snow tubing at Cooper Spur: This is a snow day geared toward ages 8-17 on Friday, Jan. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants will meet at Thompson Park. Dress warmly. Cost is $20 for in-district residents, $23 outside the district.

Trail Blazers vs. Boston Celtics: The Blazers are on a roll and this trip is available for young basketball enthusiasts ages 8-17 on Saturday, Jan. 11, from 5 to 11:30 p.m. The group will meet at Thompson Park. Cost is $30 for in-district residents, $34.50 outside the district.

Zumba fitness: Party yourself into shape with this easy, exhilarating, Latin-inspired dance fitness routine. Licensed Zumba instructors Marsha Morrison and Brenda Green offer the program at the Muscle and Fitness Center, 915 Garrison St., The Dalles, Mondays at 10 a.m., Tuesdays at 6 p.m., and Thursdays at 6 p.m. They also offer a Wednesday, 9 a.m., class at the Mid-Columbia Senior Center. A drop-in fee of $5 is charged.

Dodge ball: The action for adults and teens is at the armory, West Sixth and Webber streets, Monday nights at 6 p.m. Cost is $2.

Mother and Son Jammin’ Fun: This carnival-themed event Friday, Jan. 17, at The Dalles Civic Auditorium from 6 to 8 p.m., is for moms and their sons ages kindergarten through eighth grade. The event includes wacky competitions, prizes, ping pong and music. Snacks and punch will be provided. Admission is $25 per couple and $10 for each additional son.

Daddy Daughter Dance: Dads and grandpas can show their girls, ages kindergarten through eighth grade, how much they mean with a fun night of dancing and dressing up. The dance sells out every year, so get tickets early. Light snacks and punch will be provided at The Dalles Civic Auditorium, Friday, Feb. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. Cost is $25 per couple, $10 for each additional daughter.
